The BLOCK Online Auction: How It Works

The basic how to is as follows:

1) Register on our website www.theblockoa.com
2) Bid on items you want to purchase
3) Win items
4) Pick them up at our Warehouse

 

Specifics:

1) Register on our Website:

Note: We require a credit card for you to register with the system. Our credit card processing system is done by an outside third party—MaxanetPay. We do not charge a fee for credit card payments. We also do not have access to your credit card information.

2) Bid on items you want to purchase

Shop for the items you like. You can also “watch” items to see if the price changes and get notifications if someone has bid on items you are interested in.
Place a next bid or a max bid so that if someone else outbids you, the system will proxy bid for you up to your set maximum.

3) Win items:

Our auctions are timed and end in 15 second intervals. If a bid is placed within the last 60 seconds of the auction, the timer will reset by adding an additional minute to allow for additional bidding. You will receive your invoice by email the day after the auction ends. Your credit card will typically be charged as soon as the invoices are generated.

4) Pick up your items:

Pick up your items at our warehouse in Flemington, NJ within 8 days of auction end. We are conveniently located next to Diamond Nation in the Flemington Junction Business Park, Building D, Unit 401. Our pickup hours are Wednesdays from 3-6:30pm and Saturdays from 9am-1pm. We will be adding more pick up days as we grow. Please feel free to provide input on our pickup times.

5) How to pick up

When you arrive, you will be given a pull sheet that identifies a row, shelf and item number.  You can then find your items by looking at the pull sheet item number, row and shelf number and pull your items.  It also helps to look at the photo of the item from the original listing.

Rows 1-3 and 7-9 are for smaller items.

Rows 4-6 and 10-12 are for larger items.

If the pull sheet says “desk” or “front”, please go to the front desk and ask for your item. Furniture items may be stored in the back of the warehouse instead of on the shelves, depending on the size.

6) After picking out your items

After picking out your items, you will check out. At that time, we will review your list and the items you have pulled to confirm you received everything.  You may also inspect any items before you leave to avoid returns, if you would like to.

For Resellers and Other Tax Exempt Parties:

Please share your tax exempt/reseller’s certificate with us by email at support@theblockoa.com. As soon as we receive your certificate, any auctions items you bid on thereafter will not be taxed.

Other:

Please sign up for our emails.  We send a reminder email approximately 1 hour to 30 minutes before an auction ends.  We also send you emails when a new auction goes live.  To the extent possible, we try to give you an update on what new product we are expecting in these emails, as well as reminding you of final pick up dates and changes, if any, to our schedule.
